Church Valet Parking as a way to “care for one another”
Church valet paring is a relatively new offering. It definitely creates a wow factor. to your members and visitors. It also is a big help to the elderly especially in inclement weather. There was a very interesting article in the Rapid City Journal about how much the elderly appreciate this new service. But its also a Godsend for all your members that may be having a little trouble getting around.
At 87 years of age, Freeda Schaub doesn’t want to take any chances with winter’s slippery sidewalks or ice-covered parking lots. Thanks to a valet parking ministry at Belle Fourche United Methodist Church, Schaub’s worries about falling on the ice or trudging through snow to get to church are no longer part of her weekly Sunday schedule.
The valet parking ministry is in its second year at Belle Fourche UMC, and it is winning rave reviews from the elderly, the disabled and other congregants who use it, said Myron Eliason.
“I really enjoy it,” Schaub said. “I’m 87, and when I park far away, then I’ve got to walk all that distance through the rain or the snow. It’s a lot nicer to get dropped off at the front door.”
